About Sql insert parent and child records best practice

As title ,in your document refers to scope_identity to solve child record insert,
But in my job experience,output is more flexible ,please refer this article

I just wonder your document released after 2012 ,if scope_identity is still the best practice,please explain it.
If not,maybe you need to update document for this practice.
